Blast from the past! 2014 Shimmy Mob

This is the 7th year Al Safaar students have participated in  Shimmy Mob. This year they are registered for the Ellicott City, MD team. (You can register with ANY city and still be welcome to rehearse with us.) This event is open to EVERYONE.  You do not need to be a student of mine to participate or jump in on the rehearsal classes.  

The 2018 Shimmy Mob choreography is amazing! It's a keeper! I love love love it, but it is not remotely beginner friendly.  My Passport to Learning students have been working on it all semester and we've needed all of that class time to get through it.  Generally, in April, I offer a 4-class session to learn it completely, but that is way too optimistic for this year's dance.  

If you are considering learning the Shimmy Mob choreography this late in the game, you will HAVE to spend time learning it through the instructional videos.  Expect to devote roughly an hour per segment to get a handle on those combinations.  I CAN offer a series of rehearsals in April, but they can't be long enough to teach the dance from the ground up.  Unless you are an advanced dancer and pick up choreography very quickly, you will have to do your homework BEFORE class to be successful.

Rehearsal classes are on Mondays in April from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. beginning April 9th.  A $10 drop-in will be charged and 100% of the proceeds will go to this year's Ellicott City, MD Shimmy Mob charity.  Here is the schedule:

April 9 - Entrance Combo #1, Chorus Combo, Drum Solo #1

April 16- Oud Combo #1, Bazouki Combo

April 23- Drum Solo #2, Oud Combo #2

April 30- Bridge Combo, Chorus Finale Combo
